Looking ahead to 2010

So... what am I looking forward to in 2010? Completing more of my list, of course! Here's a few things I'd like to get accomplished before the end of January in 2010:

1. Read the Complete Works of Shakespeare (3/38)
12. Catch up on Stargate Atlantis (one freaking episode left!)
20. Complete the Chicago scrapbook
22. Complete a 2008 highlights scrapbook
40. Write in my personal journal once a week (like to start)
42. Take my pills/vitamins every day (like to start)
44. Work out three times a week (like to start)
58. Organize my CD collection (ALMOST finished)
81. Send a secret to Post Secret

9 goals for the month of January. The hardest one will probably be 1. Reading Shakespeare. #12, #58, and #81 will be super easy... I just need motivation!

Completed 37. Bake 10 new recipes (11/10). I made salsa chicken and crab pasta salad for dinner tonight.

Here's the list of items I've completed in 2009. Yes, yes, I know 2009 is not over yet. Technically I still have three more days. However, I don't see that I'll complete any more goals in the next 3 days.

91. Realize that this list is not set in stone and may change as I change
94. Eat at an IHOP
96. Finish watching Star Trek Enterprise
99. Go to the zoo
Completed: 41

I was really, really ambitious when I first started, then forgot about this list for a bit, then some of them got completed completely by accident, then I found motivation again. However, I've completed 40% of my goals in 360 days. Not too shabby. If I can match or exceed this next year (which'll be harder considering the goals that are left are some of the hardest), I'll make it without a problem. :) I have 24 items that are currently in progress:

1. Read the Complete Works of Shakespeare
2. Read the Count of Monte Cristo
3. Read The Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales Collection

50. Save all coins until the end of this mission
58. Organize my CD collection
60. Use control journal
86. Be able to count to ten in ten other languages (4/10)
87. Finish Indiana Jones Legos for PS2
89. Complete my Homeworkopoly game
95. Bind together a printed copy of Centre of Evil
97. Watch the original Star Trek Series
98. Write down one positive thought a day
100. See 101 new movies (83/101)

Some of these are very, very close to completion, so long as I get off my lazy little butt. Several of these (aka, the ones that cost money) are going to probably be put off into the middle of 2011. My boyfriend surprised me by propsing to me over Christmas, so all of our funds are getting pushed towards the wedding.

I look forward to the progress that I'll be making in the next year and half (or so).

I had forgotten about these!

I tried three new recipes:

7) Veggie Pizza
8) 7 layer Mexican Dip
9) Quesidallas (or however the heck they are spelled)

One more and I've got this beast complete!

Three Down!

Well... its been a while. I've gotten three crossed off my list:

15. Finish writing The Vampire Wars
16. Actively participate in a NaNoWriMo Challenge
17. Complete a NaNoWriMo Challenge

SWEET! The Vampire Wars is one lousy piece of crap but its done. That's all I needed.

36/101 complete!

Setting Some Goals

Under Health, goal number 64 is to Slim down my tummy. I just went out and bought a Wii Fit and the new EA sports game for the Wii. In order to help me slim down my tummy my plans is to excerise on the Wii Fit for 30 minutes each day in the morning before my shower.

Now, I know that the Wii Fit is not supposed to be used as your ONLY source of excerise and but this will be, I think, a good way to get me started excercising and sort of wean me back into the habit of it. We'll see how it goes!

Zzzzzzz....

31/101 complete!

Finished watching Homicide Life on the Street. Done. Complete. Awesome series. I loved it and would love to purchase it.

Saw the Hangover, Bride Wars, and A Beautiful Mind this weekend. All were good. I'm at 48/101 movies. This one is actually taking me longer to complete than I thought. I do watch a lot of TV, but apparently not new items or films. Hmm... I'm going to have to work on that.

I haven't made a lot of progress elsewhere. My focuses have been elsewhere, the school year, three weeks of classes/training, and distractions of fun craft progjects. Here's what I know:

I still have TWO, SGA episodes left to watch. Its been like this for weeks, but I can't seem to watch them. I'm beginning to remember the reason I quit watching this show in the first place.

My CD organization is in progress but on hold due to absolutelty no money right now. I have also started knitting a better poncho and one that I really like.

Well... I'm off to bed and hopefully making more progress this week.

Chug Chug

Nothing else crossed off but a little bit more progress on some of them. I've completed Season 3 of Homicide Life on the Street and am halfway through Season 4. I can ALMOST cross this one off! :)

Yum! Yum!

Tried two more new recipes today! (Pictures to come, I'm in the middle of an ADIML so I'll load photos tommorrow).

First off was the pasty. A Yopper (Its a Michigan thing) staple. Available only there. Sadly, unable to get them here in Arizona, obviously. I've never made one before and they turned out pretty good. I made the basic meat and potatoes one. Next time I'll add some veggies to mix it up. I'm going to try to add something different to the dough though... it doesn't taste quiet the same.

The second was a coffee frap. Turned out great, I'll be making these more often. I'm not a Starbucks person - can't afford 'em everyday too darn expensive - now I can! Homemade is good.

So that brings me to 6 out of 10 recipes made.

In other progress I'm on the last disc of Star Trek's season 1, with season 2 on hold on the library (as well as Seasons 3 & 4 of Homicide Life on the Street).

Started my poncho today on my infinity loom. Frakking hard to work with because its so big, but I'll figure it out, I'm sure. It'll take some getting used to.

Monday, May 25, 2009

Chug Chug

Saw two new movies: TMNT and Milk

Cooked a new recipe. Spring Salad from my "101 uses for Ramen". It tasted awful. Chris and I threw it away.

Sunday, May 24, 2009

A little bit here and there

Made some progress. Watched Seasons 1 & 2 of Homicide Life on the Street. WOW, those were SHORT seasons and Bayliss... kind of a dick in the first season. Only seasons 3 and 4 to go!

Saw three new movies: Angels and Demons (book was better!), Material Girls (it was on TV and dumb... no wonder it flopped), and Last Holiday (predictable but cute!)

Now that I'm on summer break (although it is packed with a visit to Chris's family, prepping for a new school year, and a family visit, I'm hoping to get more accomplished on my list.

Sushi!

Made Sushi tonight for dinner. I forgot to take pictures though... :(

New recipes stand at: 3/10

30/101

Another one down!

#82 Get a Pet has been accomplished! I got a pair of male guiena pigs this afternoon. I named them Artemis and Porthos... I'm such a geek!

Friday, May 1, 2009

3 More Down!

29/101 Completed!

31. Design my own cross-stitch pattern: I've actually designed several small ones that I just adore. You can find photos over at my craft blog.

72. Do absolutely NO school work on Sundays for 10 days: This was actually completed about three weeks ago without me even realizing it.

99. Go to the zoo: I kind of cheated on this one... I took my 6th graders on a field trip to the zoo, but it was a blast all the same!

I've got a few more goals I might add to list on bonuses...

Saturday, April 18, 2009

26/101

Approx. 25% of my list is completed!

#8: Have a Star Wars Movie Marathon. I actually did this one several weeks ago but never crossed it off.

#14 Have a Pretender marathon. I define marathon as one whole season. Completed yesterday, although I am still going strong through Season 2 and will probably complete the whole series. Man, I miss this show!

#45 Open a savings account. Big one! Completed. Whew.

Major One Achieved

Credit Card Balance = $0

SWEET!

That was number 47 on THE list.

23/101 COMPLETE!

Not Much to Update...

Not much to update as I have sort of fallen behind on some things. I've completed quiet a few items on this list already so I figure a small month/month and a half break won't kill or hurt me as I have 2.75 years total to complete this entire thing.

*Shrugs*

Update

One minor update.

Number # 67. Drink ONLY 1 soda (or less) a day for 10 days completed. I've been sick the last few days which has made this easier than it normally is. 10 days doesn't sound like very long but for someone who drinks 6 or more cans of soda a day... 10 days is really, really difficult.

20/101 completed

Whew.

Further Changes

Ever since I started knitting last month I've renewed my passion and love for crafts. So I've changed a few goals that I really could care less about to match my new desires.

Changed number 31: Finish stitching my "Weekend A Paris" to "Design my own cross-stitch pattern)

And changed number 83. Write and mail myself a letter to "particpate in a craft swap" (probably through crafster.org

Two small changes but I think it'll make a large difference in how I'm beginning to look at this list. :)

Last Post of the Day...

I'm having some trouble with #47. Pay off credit card balances. To help me with this, I've developed a system. I'm crossing my fingers that it works.

Currently I hve five envelopes... eventually they'll be jars.
1. Crafts
2. Household
3. Pets
4. Wardrobe & Accessories
5. Sewing Machine

Okay, okay, maybe having five is too many but oh well.

Every paycheck I get to put $20-$60 (starting with the 20s now and eventually moving up in amounts until my credit cards are paid off) into ANY of these five envelopes that I choose... depending on what my obcession for the week is. If I just put the money in a regular savings envelope/jar I might spend all the money on crafts and none on pets, etc.

THIS way... I'll have funding for the things that I want and won't be using my credit cards now. I should be able to pay off the bulk of it (like 95% of it with my tax refund but I have yet to do my taxes... hopefully next weekend). I removed my credit cards from my wallet and put them away with my passport and my dorminat cards from Michigan.

This'll help me save up for the things that I want (I love crafts, I want a pet but have no money, I'd love to upgrade my wardrobe, etc.) My obcessions vary from week to week and where I want to spend my money varies from week to week. So if one week I'm desperate to own a sewing machine that money will go there, etc.

I think the majority of it will go into crafts, sewing machine, and wardrobe for the next couple of weeks. The sewing machine being number 1 probably... but these things are so darn expensive.

Well we'll see how it goes... I'm off to apply for a second job followed by summer jobs.

Still Working on it...

I SHOULD be lesson planning today but screw it all... I'm finishing up some of my almost done projects for my 101 project.

90. Organize my recipe book - - COMPLETE! I have a SLEW of photographs of my cookbook. I am SUPER excited that this is done. Now that all my old recipes are organized I can start adding new ones!

I had over 20 photos to share... but decided I had to limit it to my favorites! :(

This is the cover. Its just held into a nice black binder, as I want my cookbook to be flexable and easy to add to and change. It says "There's No Place Like Home."

I DO have a table of contents but its not the prettiest page... so I'm not posting it. ;p. I used tab dividers I created to divide it up into the different sections that I need.

And SOME of the pages:

This thing is HUGE! I'll probably need to break it up into a few smaller binders at some point... but that's another project.

Completed: 19/101

Photos as Promised

Pecan Walnut Salad AND the dressing:

Closeup of the Salad:

YUM! YUM! YUM!

My Shawl (laid out nicely):

I tried to take a picture of me when I was wearing it:

And finally... the fringe in action! (Shockingly the fringe was the hardest part!)

Another One Down!

54. File all unfiled paperwork at home (and keep up with it!)

Filed ALL unfiled paperwork AND cleaned up the area around the desk to help me keep up with filing paperwork away right away. I created a nice in/out system, using regular black baskets (from the dollar store).

Whew! I've been working like crazy today.

18/101 Complete!

Two more down!

62. Clean out closet and dresser

Made my second purge this morning. My wardrobe is now half of what it was. SQUEE! Nice cleaned out areas.

and...

94. Eat at an IHOP

This morning Chris brought me to an IHOP down the street for breakfast. It was good... but Dad's pancakes are stll better.

17/101 COMPLETE!

DVDs are Organized!

57. Organize my DVD collection is now COMPLETE! Halfway through this project I was regretting it. I have my DVDs in those CD cases. 280+ DVDs to pull out, put back in, and organize alphabetically. HOLY COW!

But... its complete and I am glad that it is done.

15/101 COMPLETE!

Several in progress... If I keep this up I just MIGHT finish my "smaller" goals (ie. finish TV series, crafts, etc) before the end of the year. Financials and etc will take longer of course.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Happy V-Day!

Changed number67. to: Drink ONLY 1 soda (or less) a day for 10 days. Before it said Drink ONLY 1 soda a day for 10 days. It was supposed to be a lead up to the Drink no Soda for a Week straight so far today I've had only Ice Tea to drink so I consider that an accomplishment... so we'll see. Its still early yet and I have a headache from no caffeine...

Friday - due to a rush to return Season 4 :( - I've finished 96. Finish watching Star Trek Enterprise.

14/101 COMPLETE

OH! And I cooked another new recipe... Pecan Pear Salad... pictures to follow.

Use the Control Journal

Now that I HAVE a control journal... I need to USE it. This one will not be crossed off until I have done every routine in the journal for 120 STRAIGHT days... no breaking routines. For me, it'll probably take this long for me to consider the habits in it "established". The whole point is to establish the routines in it, which are:

1. Eat Breakfast every morning (0/120)
2. Brush my teeth every morning after breakfast (0/120)
3. Take my vitamins (0/120)
4. Take my fiber (0/120)
5. Wash my face every morning (0/120)
6. Use teeth whitener - twice a day (0/240)
7. Write for 15 minutes a day, EVERYDAY (0/120)
8. Daily Spanish Practice, everyday (0/120)
9. Workout 30 minutes, 4 times a week (0/18)
10. Cleaned all my zones weekly (0/18)
11. Planned all meals (0/18)
12. Wash my face before bed (0/120)
13. Take a shower every evening BEFORE bed (0/120)
14. Have all my items packed BEFORE morning (0/120)

Most of these are routines that I do daily as it is but have no set schedule (ie, sometimes I shower in the evening, sometimes in the morning) but without a set schedule my days are too choatic. I'm hoping this way things'll work out better for me.

Anytime I miss ONE of these, I have to reset the counter for ALL of them, back to zero. It needs to be 120 days (or 18 weeks, based on goal) consectutive days. It's the only way I'll make my goals.

I am currently working on an incentive plan, which I'll post later.

2009 Scrapbook list

Here's a few of the things I need to remember when working on my 2009 scrapbook (ie. Things to scrapbook)

1. New Years Eve
2. Martin Luther King "Eve" Celebration

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Control Journal

59. Create a control journal

COMPLETED! I'll admit this was in progress since late last year but I finally got it finished! It houses my daily routines, weekly zones to clean, menus to fill out, budgets, wish lists, reading lists, basically my whole life.

In the Other Accomplishments category I have FINALLY hung up all my wall decorations on the walls of my new apartment.

AND I completed 63. Organize spoon collection. When I hung it up on the wall I organized the spoos the way I wanted them to be. Sounds like a simple goal but it hasn't been done in all of 23 years so I consider this a HUGE accomplishment.

Photos to follow.

Round and Round we go

Added another day of arriving at work after 7:15. Today was unintentional but all the same... I did it.

Also, I added another "Other accomplishment" to my list. Last night I knitted a green hat on my new circle loom (pictures to follow).

Update

Just a small note. I'm on a knitting frenzy. Still not done with my poncho but yesterday at Hobby Lobby I picked up a kit of circle looms and am currently knitting a hat. I'm straying WAY off track with my list but I can't help it. Loom knitting is easier than knitting with regular needles and much, much faster. At Michael's last night I also picked up a kit of long looms and hope to learn how to do knitting on those later.

Progress...

I'm still chugging away about my "arrive at work after 7:15am". I'm loving this goal and that I'm meeting it. If I keep it up I'll be done with this goal mid-March. Yippie! Hopefully I'll keep up the habit.

Went to bed before 10:30 last night... so another day chalked up on that one.

Got a list of 1-10 in French. I'm going to practice these until I have them down then move to Czech.

Finish Season 7 of Homicide Life on the Street. I didn't like the way the series ended. Man Bayliss! Really!? The library doesn't have the movie on DVD (and I'm not sure Netflix does either... I haven't checked).

This weekend I want to finish Season 3 of Star Trek: Enterprise. Then I only have 1 season left to go and this goal is Com-plete!

The library is currently holding Season 1 of the org. Star Trek for me... I'm waiting until Saturday to pick it up along with returning other items checked out... mostly DVDs.

My cookbook is chugging along nicely... It's almost organized. The hardest part is not putting new recipes in there while I'm currently organizing the ones I have already!

Counting To Ten

Changed #86 from "watch Mom graduate from LSSU" to "Be able to count to ten in ten other languages" (not including English!). As previously mentioned, my mom is no longer walking in graduation. With my students (I teach 6th grade) I always count to ten and then the students hold up their whiteboards. I spent 5 months in Germany and learned to count to 10 while I was there (from Kate's mom!) The kids love counting to ten in a language they don't know (the majority of them know both English and Spanish), so this is also a career focus goal becuase my students enjoy it so much.

Here's the languages I know so far:
1. Spanish
2. German
3. French
4. Czech
5.
6.
7.

4. cuatro
5. cinco

1. eins
2. zwei
3. drei
4. feer
5. foonf
6. zecks
7. zeeben
8. ahkt
9. Noyn
10. Tsayn
Learned in the fall of 2007 while I was in Germany. Kate intially taught me how and her mom worked with my on pronunciation.

1. un
2. deux
3. trois
4. quatre
5. cinq
6. six

Another Progress Report

Here's some more tracking data on some items that I am working on:

11. Watch the complete Homicide Life on the Street Series: Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, Season 6, and Season 7. I just picked up Season 7 from the library but don't think I'll get that accomplished this weekend what with the move and all.

12. Catch up on Stargate Atlantis: I have to finish watching the following episodes - 5x15, 5x16, 5x17, 5x18, 5x19, and 5x20. Then I'm all caught up.

Pay off Credit Cards: Made another sad little payment this week. Hopefully followed by a MUCH larger payment after my tax refunds come back.

59. Create a control journal: This has been in the process for a while, I wish I had had this finished before the move started but I've been so distracted by my poncho and cookbook!

62. Clean out closet and dresser: Cleaned it out quiet a bit a few weekends ago, plan on finishing this pre/post move

71. Arrive at work later than 7:15am for 30 days (6/30): I'm absolutely loving this goal of mine! I might add the goal to higher than 30 days. Its nice not being at work 2 hrs before school starts! :)

72. Do absolutely NO school work on Sundays for 10 days (1/10): I plan on not doing any work this Sunday with the move and it being superbowl Sunday!!! Plus I have Monday off to do it....

86. Watch Mom’s graduation from LSSU: I'll need to change this one as my Mom isn't going to be walking in graduation anymore... my sister's prom is the same day and she doesn't want to miss sending her off.

90. Organize my recipe book: Still a WIP. Probably won't get finished this weekend...

96. Finish watching Star Trek Enterprise: Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4. Just picked up a reserved copy of Season 3 from the library. I'm already about halfway through it thanks to cable reruns and netflix.

Progress Report

Donated 80 more grains of rice at freerice.com. I might change this goal to 100,000 grains of rice through any subject matter because I'm sick of seeing the same questions over and over again...

Read Nights in Rodanthe my Nicholas Sparks, so I've read two out of fifty books. This one was actually for a book club and I had a really hard time getting into it.

Woke up naturally this morning... okay so Chris got up to an alarm but I stayed in bed so that counts!

Got to work at 7:30 on Friday morning so thats one more day down as "arrive later than 7:15" (I'm such a workaholic so this is a really good improvement).

I've watched 8 Stargate Atlantis episodes I haven't seen yet so I've only got about 11 left to go and then I'm all caught up on the series!

I'm currently working on organizing my recipe book. I retyped a lot of bad looking recipes that I copied out of books. I just need to print them, find a binder I want to put them in, and come up with an organizational system that works for me!

6/250... a long way to go!

Started working on number 3 this afternoon: Read The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales Collection. There are 250 stories in my collection and today I read six of them:

2. The Companionship of Cat and Mouse
3. The Virgin Mary's Child
4. The Boy who went Forth to learn What fear Was
5. The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids
6. Faithful Johannes

So far... not what I was expecting.

10/101 still complete (not bad! not bad!)

Photo Gallery

#78 Frame HS senior photograph

#33 Learn how to crochet and/or knit

#29 Complete my U.S. Quarter Collection

#77 Frame family photos from HS and NMU graduation in matching frames

#55 Get bookshelves

#56 Organize my books in the bookshelves

A few changes....

Well I already reached number 91: Realize that this list is not set is stone and may change as I change, as I changed a few items on my list. NOT because I can't reach them but because there are other things I'd also like to accomplish during this time.

Changed #37 "Bake Bannana Nut Bread" to "Bake 10 new recipes".
Changed #94 "Revise and edit Centre of Evil" to "Eat an IHOP" (just something I've always wanted to do! lol).
Changed #101 "Write a new 101 List for the 2012 challenge" to "Knit a Ponho." I learned to knit the other day (fullfilling another requirement) and fell in LOVE with it. I've always wanted to knit a poncho so that seemed like a great one to add.

Things accomplished:
29. Complete my U.S. Quarter Collection - - Found my last quarter Hawaii! Chris threw his change in the out bin and I saw it!

33. Learn how to crochet and/or knit - - Stopped at Hobby Lobby Thursday and picked up needles, yarn, and a "learn to knit" book and a few hours later... *bam* I had nailed the first type of knitting stitch. I made a whole wash cloth!

55. Get bookshelves: Picked up two black finished ones at Target

56. Organize my books in the bookshelves: Spent ALL day today on this. I have a LARGE collection.

91. Realize that this list is not set is stone and may change as I change: Changed a few items already on my list so I made this one already in my brain.

9/101 Complete! I hope I can keep this up! :)

Progress

3/101 Completed.

Yesterday I framed my high school senior photograph in a nice 8x10 photo frame (that I actually had lying around the house!) This seriously shouldn't be that difficult but considering the fact that its been sitting around for 5.5 years... I guess it was. A photograph coming soon.

Here's a list of the goals that are in progress:
1. Read The Complete Works of Shakespeare (3/37 plays): Hauled the book out of storage and picked up an "Idiot's Guide to..." book to help me.
2. Complete the 50bookchallenge for 2009 (1/50): This one will be in progress for probably the rest of the year.
11. Watch the complete Homicide Life on the Street Series: requested Season 1 from the library. I'm currently 6 out of 7 requests I believe.
12. Catch up on Stargate Atlantis: Have begun downloading the episodes, will begin watching this weekend.

52. Donate 100,000 grains of rice on freerice.com via the German Language (3,000/100,000): this one will be going on for a while.
55. Get bookshelves: I found ones that I like at Target, but they were out of the color I wanted, so I'll have to go to a different store.
59. Create a control journal: Almost finished!
62. Clean out closet and dresser: Started yesterday and I got rid of a lot of stuff but there's still more things that need to go.
64. Slim down my tummy: Bought an Ab-Lounger to help with this.
65. Go to sleep by 10:30 sharp for 60 days (1/60): Started yesterday! Yippie!
77. Frame family photos from HS and NMU graduation in matching frames: Found a frame, now I just need to print off and rezie the four photos
82. Get at pet: Am reserching the pet's needs.
93. Update teaching portfolio: Located portfolio. This was a biggie!
